Traditional Scottish Kilt with buckles and belt loops.
In Scottish it is called filebeg, meaning little kilt or short kilt. The Little Kilt is lighter and uses less fabric than the more ancient and larger filemor or Great Kilt that has excess fabric worn draped over the shoulders. This kilt was designed for the military so that they could dress quickly.
The Scottish Kilt is made in the traditional way with carefully matched plaids sewn to the hip level and deep knife pleats to knee in the back. The front ismade of two unpleated, overlapping layers of fabric. The kilt is fastened and adjusted with real leather straps and buckles at the waist and hip. There are large belt loops for the wide belts that are traditionally worn with this style.
You may be wondering how we can sell them so inexpensively, its because we carry a limited number of patterns. If you want your family tartan you will need to pay $250 to $400 to a company that specializes in that sort of thing. But if you just want to wear a kilt-anyone can wear Plain Black or Black Watch, they aren't attached to any clan or family. And there's no law to prevent you from wearing MacKinzie or McDonald, either.
This kilt is equally at home in a stong man competition on a hot summer day or a refined Robert Burns night in winter. It comes in waist sizes 34" to 52" and MacDonald, MacKenzie, Black Watch, or plain Black. See the Tartan chart for detailed pictures.
