Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail on stage

What's next for the big Broadway musical SPAMALOT which takes an irreverent look at .. well, nearly everything, especially big Broadway musicals? A London production, a touring company, and Las Vegas tycoon Steve Wynn is building a special theater just to hold this hilarious musical. Lovingly "ripped-off" from the internationally famous comedy team's most popular motion picture, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," SPAMALOT tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and the quest for the Holy Grail. It features "a chorus line of legless knights, men in tights (with legs), killer rabbits and sexy dancing divas." The show won the 2005 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Director and Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

SPAMALOT has been playing to sold out audiences in New York since its debut in January of 2004. This year it opened in London in January with original cast member Tim Curry reprising his role as King Arthur. Spamalot moves to the Palace Theatre in London's West End on October 17th and Curry has committed to stay on in the role until January 2007 when he hands over the role to multi award-winning Simon Russell Beale, who is currently wooing audiences as King Arthur at the Shubert Theatre on Broadway.

Touring Company and Las Vegas

SPAMALOT began touring in March of 2006 in Boston, Chicago, and Washington DC. The company is appearing in Cinncinati, OH from now until the 29th, then on to Charlotte, NC (Nov 28–Dec 10), Detroit, MI (Dec 12–Jan 6, 2007), Ft. Lauderdale, FL (Jan 9–Jan 21, 2007), and Rodchester, NY (Apr 24–May 6, 2007).

SPAMALOT will open in a new custom built "Spamalot Experience and Grail Theatre," at the Wynn Casino in Las Vegas in March of 2007 where it is scheduled to run 12 times a week for the next 10 years! The play is being reworked to fit into the 90 minute Las Vegas format like other Broadway musicals playing in Vegas. According to their contract with casino owner, Steve Wynn, Spamalot will not be touring in California, Nevada, or Arizona while it is showing in Las Vegas. Wynn says, "One of the things I've missed in Las Vegas is wit - something that is really funny." This comedy musical has it all.
